Built in the late 1800’s, the Royal Station Hotel has been a landmark building in the small market town of Carnforth for almost one hundred and fifty years. The hotel has a prominent position on Market Street, directly opposite the historic station, made famous by Oscar-winning director, Sir David Lean’s 1945 film, ‘A Brief Encounter’, considered by many to be one of the most romantic films of all time.
Overlooking Warton Crag, the hotel boasts eighteen en-suite bedrooms, ranging from cosy doubles to executive four-posters. The cosy restaurant and quiet bar area offer a selection of traditional, home-cooked dishes, made using local ingredients wherever possible, as well as a wide range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
The large bar to the rear of the Royal Station Hotel, ‘The Junction’, is Carnforth’s premier live music venue, with some of the North-West’s leading bands already lined up to play. The ‘Events’ area of the website will be regularly updated with our line-ups, and we’re always keen for any new bands to get in touch.
We look forward to welcoming you to Carnforth, and to the Royal Station Hotel. We want your stay here to be as comfortable and relaxing as possible, after all, we want you to come back. If you do have any particular requirements, please do ask a member of our friendly team, and we will do what we can to facilitate your request.
Glen Pearson and Maggie Dainty had been looking for a B&B or hotel for a while, to complement Glen’s other business interests, both situated in Carnforth, and when the Royal Station Hotel came onto the market, they felt it was an opportunity not to be missed.
“When we came to see it, we saw just how much potential the hotel had”, said Glen. “Since we’ve moved in we have found that there is so much enthusiasm from the local community to return it to its former glory.”
Glen and Maggie have big plans for the hotel, not least for the large bar to the rear of the hotel, which has been named ‘The Junction’, with an emphasis on live music. There are also plans for a new kitchen, an outdoor eating area overlooking Carnforth Station, and some radical menu changes.
“We’ve heard from the locals that this was a very popular venue in the 1960s and 1970s, and we plan to bring back the good times”, added Glen.
Monday – Sunday 10:00am – 10:00pm
Welcome to Carnforth’s premier live music venue, The Junction.
Situated to the rear of the Royal Station Hotel, The Junction is a large bar area. By day, it is the perfect place for watching live sport, playing darts and pool, or just relaxing with friends. By night, with a live band on the stage, the lights flashing a spectrum of colours and the music pumping through the sound system, it becomes one of the area’s liveliest music venues.
The Junction has already played host to a number of the North-West’s most popular bands, including the Lancaster Bombers and Mutely, and there are many more acts lined up to thrill the Carnforth crowds.
We are always keen to hear from any new bands, so please do get in touch if you would like the chance to play at this exciting, new music venue.
